We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to advancing sustainable development, disaster preparedness, and economic opportunity across Galveston.
Established in 2019 as the programmatic arm of the Galveston Economic Development Partnership (GEDP), GCIT is designed to execute catalytic programs and pilot scalable initiatives that drive long-term impact. We turn bold ideas into practical, measurable action.

A Synergistic Partnership
The Galveston Center for Innovation & Transformation (GCIT) and the Galveston Economic Development Partnership (GEDP) operate in close coordination, working side by side to align investment strategies, policy priorities, and program development. This collaboration ensures that both organizations play to their strengths while advancing a shared vision for Galveston’s future.
GEDP takes the lead in attracting new businesses, supporting the retention of existing employers, and promoting Galveston as a destination for investment and growth. At the same time, GCIT complements these efforts by designing and delivering educational programs, producing research and data to inform decision-makers, and launching grant-backed initiatives that strengthen the region’s resilience.
Together, this dual approach forms a balanced strategy: GEDP builds the economic engine through marketing and business development, while GCIT ensures that the community has the tools, knowledge, and resources to sustain that growth over the long term. By combining these complementary roles, Galveston is better positioned for smart, sustainable development that can withstand challenges and create lasting opportunity for its residents.
